We take those values seriously, especially in how we train our stylists. Our approach involves immersive training that instills a self-assurance in every stylist.
Unlike other training programs, our curriculum emphasizes hands-on work throughout each phase. Our methodology helps to prepare every stylist to begin their work with total confidence.
Another key facet of our philosophy is our training model. Every senior stylist is paired with an apprentice in order to be more efficient. Our junior stylists work alongside a senior stylist for a valuable mentorship experience.
Through our in-depth programming, trainees are fully able to witness and understand the artistry and techniques
of an elite-level stylist.
Our training model is unique to most models: we offer two 150 hour programs, spread out over 6 months, occurring 2 days a week. We follow BC Industry Training Authority Standards in the development of our program.
In our years of salon education experience, we found that training two days a week and allowing hands-on time in between classroom days provides students with the valuable time needed to practice in a real work environment and earn an income. Our students report they feel much more confident in their skills because of their ability to truly practice in real-world scenarios.
The first 150 hour Intro to Becoming an Apprentice program gives you the skills necessary to apprentice in a salon. The second 150 hour Hair Stylist Foundations program prepares you with the fundamental skills of a Level 1 hair stylist.
Level 1 Apprentices - 300 hours of education + 2500 trade hours
Level 2 Junior Stylist - an additional 150 hours of education + 2500 trade hours
Level 3 Senior Stylist - an additional 100 hours of education + 5000 trade hours + mentoring/teaching hours + The Current requires Red Seal Certification
Level 4 Master Stylist - a balanced schedule of mentoring/teaching hours & creative content. It also includes 10 000 plus trade hours.
The Intro to Becoming an Apprentice program is open to anyone who shares a passion for the hair industry and interested in this format of training. Our second program, Hair Stylist Foundations, is a great next step after completing the apprentice program or can act as a great refresher for a previously trained stylist.
Our training philosophy and methodology is unlike any other academy in the Northern BC region.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot for the fall intake. This deposit will be applied to your tuition balance. Full tuition must be paid by September 1st. Payments accepted include cash and debit payment; credit card can be accepted with a 3% processing fee.

150 hours: Hair Stylist Foundations = $2500
Stylist Kit $2500 (includes high end tools, mannequins/stand and much more)
